Paranoid Park is the newest Gus Van Sant opus that takes places in another of his chosen dreary environments, but that isn’t a bad thing. If you’ve seen any other movies by Gus Van Sant, you know what he likes in his movies. Cloudy skies, surreal music, misunderstood characters. All of these things are at the center of this coming of age drama dealing with guilt and secrets, hidden within the suburbs of Portland. This movie definitely shows perspective.
